Surf Ballroom & Museum

The Surf Ballroom and Museum is organized to preserve, maintain and manage the historic Surf Ballroom property as a center utilized to enhance the quality of life in the North Iowa area by providing cultural, educational and entertainment opportunities. The Surf Ballroom Music Enrichment Center is dedicated to providing engaging, hands-on, lifelong learning opportunities to students of all ages and abilities in the greater North Iowa area. We are passionate about sharing the story of the historic Surf Ballroom, creating relevant curriculum to assist schools, and continually working to inspire generations through the music that lives on.

To many, the Surf Ballroom is an American cultural icon as well as an important historical landmark. We are a full functioning museum, hosting a wide range of events and concerts throughout the year. Although the Surf Ballroom will always be associated with the day the music died, the Surf is truly where music lives, and continues to live on in the hearts and lives of many. It is our honor and privilege to work to ensure the music lives on at our historic building. Many musicians have graced the Surf's stage throughout history. Visitors to the Surf have listened to the sounds of country, jazz, blues, pop, swing and (of course) rock 'n roll since 1933. From weddings to celebrations of life, the Surf is also host to countless private and community events. In addition to our school curriculum and resources, our new educational outreach facility, the Music Enrichment Center, is a space dedicated to education. We are able to share the story of the Surf in a hands-on way in a creative learning environment where students are able to learn through music. The Music Enrichment Center focuses on instrument lessons, youth & community programs, scholarships and more.
