The Friends of the 457 are a group of volunteers with the motto to Restore and Preserve our history and natural beauty of our surroundings for the present and beyond.
What We Do
The Friends of the 457 are a group of dedicated volunteers restoring and preserving a 1912 railroad steam engine in East Park, Mason City, Iowa. They maintain and service the Cannonball engine weekends May through Oct. 2021 seen over 7000 kids and adults visit the engine. Also the Cannonball Gardens is a series of walkways and gardens that are maintained next to the Cannonball engine which the public uses for rest and relaxation and many photo opts WE are in need of volunteers for the engine on weekends and gardens to maintain.
